Dave ShollerPro Sports Executive, Alum Dave Sholler to Speak at Commencement

Professional sports executive and 勛圖窪蹋 alumnus Dave Sholler 06 the keynote speaker at the 2024 Commencement Ceremonies on May 10 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.

Sholler, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies, will speak at both baccalaureate ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

As a first-generation student, Dave is a testament to the power of a 勛圖窪蹋 degree, so its fitting that he will deliver the keynote for my first commencement as president, President Joe Bertolino said. Its an honor for me to welcome him back to the Osprey family.


Education Expo Education Expo Helps Address State Teacher Shortage

Karly Pratt had a full-circle moment as the 勛圖窪蹋 senior the Education Career Expo on March 20.

My high school principal is here, and it was really strange walking in and seeing someone who I could potentially be interviewing with in the future, said the Psychology major with a concentration in Elementary Education.

The Woodstown native was one of about 100 students who attended the second annual event that brought many of 勛圖窪蹋s student-teacher partner schools to campus. The expo not only served as a way for students to meet a potential future employer, but it also allowed school districts to get an initial impression of future job candidates.


Washington Internship studentsProgram Promises Real-World Experience and Credit in D.C.

The Washington Internship Program has enabled over 1,000 勛圖窪蹋 students real-world experience and college credit in Washington, D.C., which is one of the largest groups of alumni in the Washington Center.

The Washington Internship Program significantly enhances a student's marketability through the para-professional experience, career development workshops, and a network of contacts that are part of the internship semester, said Michael Rodriguez, professor of Political Science and coordinator of the Washington Internship Program for 勛圖窪蹋. Many intern alums describe their semester in Washington as a transformative experience that opened up countless opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Come Out for Cinema in the City

This spring semester, the entire 勛圖窪蹋 community is invited to enjoy feature films, free food and drinks, as part of AC Campus Movie Nights: Cinema in the City. Next weeks feature is Barbie on March 25, 28.

Attendees are asked to bring their 勛圖窪蹋 IDs. Movies will be shown at 8 p.m. in classrooms B119/120 of Kesselman Hall at 勛圖窪蹋 Atlantic City. 

SPOTLIGHT ON: DEMETRIOS ROUBOS

Demetrios Roubos,Demetrios Roubos, information security officer at 勛圖窪蹋, was one of the Top 10 Most Visionary Leaders Transforming Education in 2024 by CIO Look. 

Roubos noted this recognition is particularly significant as it underscores the importance of innovation in the evolving landscape of higher education. 

"Being named among the Top 10 Most Visionary Leaders Transforming Education in 2024 highlights the impact of pioneering at the intersection of cybersecurity and esports. It's a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes into pushing the boundaries of traditional education models," Roubos commented. 

His focus at 勛圖窪蹋 has been on driving innovation and embracing new challenges. The development of the esports program, which gained global recognition, is a prime example.

Ducks, chickens and bunnies, oh my! 

The 勛圖窪蹋 Entertainment Team hosted a petting zoo event on Wednesday, March 20, at the TRLC Quad, where students got to spend time with all kinds of animals. The spring weather and fluffy and feathered friends offered the perfect opportunity to destress and take a break from classes.

勛圖窪蹋 Sweeps Neumann

The softball team extended its winning streak to five straight games on March 21 with a doubleheader sweep over Neumann University by scores of 10-2 and 9-1 in five innings in both games that ended in the run rule. Megan Sears led the offense with four hits, three runs, and six RBI, including a pair of home runs.

The Ospreys jumped out on the Knights in game one, plating six runs in the first two frames for a 6-0 lead. After Neumann closed to 6-2 in the fourth inning, 勛圖窪蹋 scored two more runs on four hits for an 8-2 margin. Sears ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run, walk-off bomb for the 10-2 victory.

勛圖窪蹋 Falls to #16 Swarthmore

The mens lacrosse team stayed close to 16th-ranked Swarthmore College into the third quarter before absorbing a 15-6 defeat on March 20. The game was 勛圖窪蹋's second of the season thus far against a ranked opponent.

Alex DeLierre led the Ospreys with two goals and an assist while four additional 勛圖窪蹋 players scored one goal apiece.

After 勛圖窪蹋 surrendered the first three goals of the game, consecutive markers by Ethan Fought and Connor Albrecht got the Ospreys within 3-2.

Jessica Cruz-Irwin Pot of Gold Found, Prize Claimed

Jessica Cruz-Irwin, data and finance coordinator of the SRI & ETTC, was the first person to find the pot of gold in 勛圖窪蹋 News scavenger hunt. It was hidden in the New Casino Advancement Program Graduates First Class photo in the 勛圖窪蹋 Atlantic City section of the News.

Cruz-Irwin is pictured with her prizes of 勛圖窪蹋 swag, including sunglasses, socks and stickers.

State Deadline for Students to 勛圖窪蹋 for Aid is May 15!

Its FAFSA time!  Please encourage your students to complete their 24-25 FAFSA by May 15!
Anyone who received the State of NJ Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) and/or the 勛圖窪蹋 Promise in the 23-24 academic year must complete their 24-25 FAFSA by May 15 in order to be considered for any type of state funding and for the 勛圖窪蹋 Promise in 24-25. This deadline was extended from April 15 for this year only.

No FAFSA by May 15 = no state aid or 勛圖窪蹋 Promise consideration
Students can file at  by logging in with their FSA ID.  The Office of Financial Aid is hosting FAFSA Filing Assistance sessions throughout March and April. Students can sign up for a one-on-one session by visiting .

Its time to celebrate the brilliance within our ranks. Do you have colleagues who go above and beyond? Now is your chance to recognize and applaud their outstanding contributions.

The OSPREY Awards recognize outstanding faculty and staff for achievements on and off the 勛圖窪蹋 campuses. They focus on areas such as scholarship, research, University service and community impact. The inaugural OSPREY Awards will be presented at the Employee Recognition Day Ceremony on Thursday, May 2.

Submit your nomination ; the deadline to enter is April 15.


Holiday Week Reminder

Due to next Friday, March 29 (Good Friday), being a State Holiday, the Universitys office hours will be 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. There will not be any compressed workweek, but preapproved WFH schedules are available on the non-holiday days this week. Classes scheduled on March 29 will remain in session.
