Cisco 8800 Series Phone Guide - Tutorial

The Office of Telecommunications, located in Lower D-wing, provides telephone and voicemail support for faculty, staff, and students. All questions or concerns regarding the services provided, as well as broken or damaged telephone equipment, can be directed to the operator by dialing “0” or to extension 4643.

Prerequisites
- Access to a configured Cisco 8800 Series desk phone.
- Your assigned ԹϺ telephone extension.
- Your voicemail password, if voicemail has already been set up.
- For first-time voicemail setup, use the default password supplied in this tutorial.

Dialing instructions
Use the appropriate dialing format for emergency, campus, local, long-distance, or toll-free calls.

Emergency calls
Dial 911 or 9-911.

On-campus calls
Dial the four-digit extension.

Local calls
Dial 9-xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Long-distance or toll-free calls
Dial 9-1-xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Place a call on hold
Use the Hold button to temporarily place an active call on hold and resume it later.

Place the call on hold
During an active call, press the Hold button.

Resume the call
Press the Resume soft key to retrieve the call.

Resume a specific call
If multiple calls are on hold, use the navigation key to select the call you want, then use the appropriate soft key to resume it.
Answer a call waiting call
Answer an incoming call while placing your current call on hold.

Answer the incoming call
When you hear the call waiting tone, press the Answer soft key.

Return to the first call
Your current call is automatically placed on hold. Use the hold and resume instructions to switch between calls.
Transfer a call
Use the Transfer button to send an active caller to another phone number or extension.

Start the transfer
During an active call, press the Transfer button.

Dial the recipient
Dial the phone number or extension for the person receiving the transfer.

Complete the transfer
Press the Transfer button again.

Return to the caller if needed
If the receiving party refuses the transfer, press the EndCall soft key, then press the Resume soft key to return to the original caller.
Start a conference call
Conference calls allow up to six participants, including the person who initiates the conference.

Start the conference
During an active call, press the Conference button.

Dial the participant
Dial the phone number or extension of the person you want to add.

Add the participant
Press the Conference button again to add the participant. Repeat as needed to add additional participants.

View conference participants
While on a conference call, press the More soft key, then select the ConfList soft key to view active participants.
Voicemail
Select a topic below to set up voicemail, retrieve messages, change your voicemail password, or update your greeting.
Set up voicemail for the first time
Set up your mailbox by recording your name and greeting, then replacing the default voicemail password.

Open voicemail
Press the Messages key on your Cisco phone.

Enter the default password
When prompted, enter the default voicemail password: 531531#.

Follow the setup prompts
Follow the prompts to record your name, record a standard greeting, and set a new password.

Create a valid password
Your new voicemail password must meet the following requirements:
- It must contain at least four digits.
- It cannot be the last four digits of the phone number.
- It cannot be the reverse of the phone number.
- It cannot use consecutive digits, such as 1234 or 5678.
- It cannot repeat two different digits in sequence, such as 1212.
- It cannot contain three identical digits, such as 8882.
Access voicemail from your desk phone
Use the Messages key to check voicemail directly from your assigned Cisco desk phone.

Press Messages
Press the Messages key on your Cisco desk phone.

Enter your password
When prompted, enter your voicemail password.

Choose an option
Use the voicemail menu to check new messages, send a message, review saved messages, or access setup options.
Access voicemail from another phone
You can check voicemail from another ԹϺ desk phone or from an outside phone.

Call the voicemail system
Dial (609) 626-6800.

Identify your mailbox
Press *, then enter your extension number followed by #.

Sign in
Enter your voicemail password when prompted.
Change your voicemail password
Change your voicemail password through the voicemail setup menu.

Sign in to voicemail
Access your voicemail using the Messages key or by calling the voicemail system.

Open password settings
Press 4-3-1.

Enter a new password
Enter your new password, then press #.

Confirm the new password
Enter the new password again, then press # to save it.
Change your voicemail greeting
Use the voicemail setup menu to re-record your standard greeting or select a different greeting type.

Sign in to voicemail
Access your voicemail using the Messages key or by calling the voicemail system.

Open greeting settings
Press 4-1-1.

Record your greeting
After Cisco Unity plays your current greeting, press 1 to re-record it. Press 3 to record a different greeting, choose the greeting type, and then record it.

Cisco Jabber application setup
Cisco Jabber allows you to remotely access your desk phone from anywhere using your computer. Cisco Jabber is pre-configured for desktop and laptop computers. It can also be set up upon request on Android and iOS mobile devices.
